5 Great Pavarotti Albums

<p>With the exception of one album on this list, these Pavarotti albums are a collection of Pavarotti's "best of" and "greatest hits." If you're classical music library is lacking in the Pavarotti department, you should definitely consider adding at least one of these <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/od/cdreviews/tp/Five-Popular-Luciano-Pavarotti-Albums.htm">Pavarotti albums</a> to your collection.</p><p style="background:#f5f3ef;border:1px solid #d5d0bf;clear:both;padding:.5em;"><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2010/09/05/5-great-pavarotti-albums.htm">5 Great Pavarotti Albums</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/">About.com Classical Music</a> on Sunday, September 5th, 2010 at 18:53:55.</p><p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2010/09/05/5-great-pavarotti-albums.htm">Permalink</a> | <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2010/09/05/5-great-pavarotti-albums.htm#gB3">Comment</a> | <a href="http://classicalmusic.about.com/gi/pages/shareurl.htm?PG=http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2010/09/05/5-great-pavarotti-albums.htm&zItl=5 Great Pavarotti Albums">Email this</a></p>

Chopin's Berceuse Op. 57
|
<p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/od/classicalcomposers/p/chopinprofile.htm">Chopin</a>'s Berceuse Op. 57 is a beautiful piano piece that I've been listening to a lot lately. Chopin's Berceuse Op. 57, is a moderately paced work for solo piano composed between 1833 and 1834. "Berceuse" is a French word that translates to "lullaby," and just as its title suggests, the piece is sweet and gentle. Ashkenazy's performance is by far my favorite as his speed and execution of the notes are ideal. If you've not heard Chopin's Berceuse Op. 57, you're in for a real treat.</p>
<p><strong>Listen to a <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzUAkfjDxG0">YouTube recording</a> of Ashkenazy's performance of Chopin's Berceuse Op. 57.</strong></p><p style="background:#f5f3ef;border:1px solid #d5d0bf;clear:both;padding:.5em;"><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2010/08/30/chopins-berceuse-op-57.htm">Chopin's Berceuse Op. 57</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/">About.com Classical Music</a> on Monday, August 30th, 2010 at 00:03:36.</p><p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2010/08/30/chopins-berceuse-op-57.htm">Permalink</a> | <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2010/08/30/chopins-berceuse-op-57.htm#gB3">Comment</a> | <a href="http://classicalmusic.about.com/gi/pages/shareurl.htm?PG=http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2010/08/30/chopins-berceuse-op-57.htm&zItl=Chopin's Berceuse Op. 57">Email this</a></p>

Best Original Film Scores of 2010... So Far
|
<p>I love a good original film score, and now that we're well into the second half of the year, I thought it might be a good idea to put together a list of some of the best original film scores released this year. Original film scores like the whimsical <em>Alice in Wonderland</em> and the dark and foreboding <em>Legion</em> (as well as a few in between), are reoccurring fixtures on my original film score playlist. View the entire list of the <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/od/originalfilmscores/tp/best-original-film-scores-2010.htm">best original film scores of 2010</a>... so far. The Met's "Magnificent Seven"
|
<p>In less than 60 days, the Metropolitan Opera begins its highly anticipated 2010-11 season, which will include seven brand new productions.</p>
<ul>
<li>Wagner's <em>Das Rheingold</em> (Sept. 27, 2010) and <em>Die Walkure</em> (April 22, 2011)</li>
<li>Mussorgsky's <em>Boris Godunov</em> (Oct. 11, 2010)</li>
<li>Verdi's <em>Don Carlo </em>(Nov. 22, 2010)</li>
<li>Verdi's <em>La Traviata </em>(Dec. 31, 2010)</li>
<li> <address>Adams's <em>Nixon in China</em> (Feb. 2, 2011)</address> </li>
<li>and Rossni's <em>Le Comte Ory</em> (March 24, 2011)</li>
</ul>
<p>Of the "magnificent seven" I'm most looking forward to Wagner's <em>Das Rheingold</em>. Having watched a preview of the upcoming production, it looks as if it takes place within the Matrix. Complete with a crazy, multi-arm swirling stage, performers will be wearing harnesses allowing them to navigate safely as well as walk on the vertical walls. Visit the Met's "<a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://www.metoperafamily.org/metopera/news/features/detail.aspx?id=11562">Magnificent Seven</a>" for a sneak peak!</p><p style="background:#f5f3ef;border:1px solid #d5d0bf;clear:both;padding:.5em;"><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2010/08/01/the-mets-magnificent-seven.htm">The Met's "Magnificent Seven"</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/">About.com Classical Music</a> on Sunday, August 1st, 2010 at 20:05:42.</p><p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2010/08/01/the-mets-magnificent-seven.htm">Permalink</a> | <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2010/08/01/the-mets-magnificent-seven.htm#gB3">Comment</a> | <a href="http://classicalmusic.about.com/gi/pages/shareurl.htm?PG=http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2010/08/01/the-mets-magnificent-seven.htm&zItl=The Met's "Magnificent Seven"">Email this</a></p>

Opening Night Performances
|
<p>Next month, symphony orchestras across the US will begin kicking off their 2010-11 classical music season. With swanky galas and balls, many of the opening night performances are geared as fund raising events. So instead of shying away from the higher ticket prices, show your support for the orchestra by attending their opening night! Here is just a handful of <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/od/classicalmusicevents/tp/2010-11-Opening-Night-Performances.htm">opening night events</a>. Remebering Johann Sebastian Bach
|
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://0.tqn.com/d/classicalmusic/1/H/9/bach.jpg" alt="Johann Sebastian Bach" /></p>
<p>260 years ago today,<a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/od/classicalcomposers/p/bach.htm"> Johann Sebastian Bach</a> passed away. His final resting place is in Leipzig's Thomaskirche (St. Thomas Church). Today, thousands of people around the world are paying tribute to one of the greatest composers to have ever lived. I've been informed that tonight the entire town of Leipzig will be awash with the sound of ringing church bells from its every steeple. If only I could be in Germany now. I'm sure in the days ahead, many videos and pictures will be uploaded to the web, at which point I'll be sure to post links.</p><p style="background:#f5f3ef;border:1px solid #d5d0bf;clear:both;padding:.5em;"><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2010/07/28/rembering-johann-sebastian-bach.htm">Remebering Johann Sebastian Bach</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/">About.com Classical Music</a> on Wednesday, July 28th, 2010 at 18:00:59.</p><p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2010/07/28/rembering-johann-sebastian-bach.htm">Permalink</a> | <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2010/07/28/rembering-johann-sebastian-bach.htm#gB3">Comment</a> | <a href="http://classicalmusic.about.com/gi/pages/shareurl.htm?PG=http://classicalmusic.about.com/b/2010/07/28/rembering-johann-sebastian-bach.htm&zItl=Remebering Johann Sebastian Bach">Email this</a></p>
